The layering guide:butter, then what?
Updated: Jul 24

What to wear over your body butter, and what to leave off. A short, practical guide.
There’s a small practical question that gets asked a lot: what do I put on after?
The answer is smaller than you’d think.
Wait first. Give the butter a full minute to fold into the skin. Not because a scientist said so — because the finish is nicer that way. Soft fabric goes on softer skin. Everything else follows.
Cotton or linen, then. Anything looser than your usual daytime layer. The ritual is the pause, but the pleasure is what you put on after. Choose fabric that stays out of the way.
Fragrance, only if you want to. The lavender in the butter is quiet by design — designed to layer with anything, or with nothing. If you wear a perfume, apply lightly and later, at the neck and wrists, so the two scents meet gently.
Not much else. Most bodies don’t need another product on top. If your feet are dry, a second small layer on the heels helps. Otherwise, the ritual is complete.
The layering that matters most is the layering of attention. That’s what the butter is designed to hold.
Begin the ritual.
Magnesium Body Butter — rich enough to ask for slow circular massage, silky enough to fold into the skin without resistance. Lightly scented with lavender, made to reward a slow hand.
